The Outdoor Legacy Association, Inc.
Welcome to the Outdoor Legacy Association's web page. The Outdoor Legacy Association is a nonprofit organization designed to expose children to the great American outdoors. We expose children to the outdoors who might not otherwise participate in outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and camping,by educating them on the importance of these activities and by taking them on field trips to actually participate in hunting and fishing activities. But our program does not stop there because we also teach our students about God through the Holy bible as a part of each class and field trip. Please feel free to view our web site and checkout our links. |

Our History
The Outdoor Legacy Association was officially started on January 29, 2001. The God-given idea for the formation of this organization was in the works much earlier than January 2001. November of 1999, Emmitt Glynn, III while talking with his father-in-law, Franklin Payne Sr. began to discuss the idea of an organization that could help teach young boys about the outdoors. They especially wanted to target young inner city African-American boys who were least exposed to the wonders of God's great outdoors.
Emmitt Glynn was so taken with the idea he begin working immediately on forming a curriculum that would allow the children to learn about the Creator and His great outdoors. Franklin Payne had already attempted to form such an organization but found it very difficult to garner support needed to operate a quality program. After more than a year, Emmitt Glynn completed the initial program of study that would allow students to hunt, fish, camp, and learn about Jesus Christ. Emmitt asked Terry Kent to help him in teaching and mentoring the children that would participate in the Outdoor Legacy Association program, and Mr. Kent agreed.
After much planning and discussion, Mr.Glynn talked with Reverend Larry D. Hood who encouraged him to proceed with the Outdoor Legacy Association as a part of the Rose Hill Baptist Church ministry. Mr.Charles Battiste joined the group to help assist in anyway he could. On January 29,2001 in the afternoon Mr.Glynn announced to the Rose Hill Baptist Church the Outdoor Legacy Association was looking for children who would like to participate in the Outdoor Legacy Association program. Later that year the Outdoor Legacy Association was incorporated but it still functions as one of the Rose Hill Baptist Church's ministries.

Outdoor Exposition 2002
The Outdoor Legacy Association's Outdoor Indoctrination Program is a unique program which allows both parents and children to learn about outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting. We will have a number of outdoor experts informing the participants about their particular area of outdoor expertise. This seminar is free to the general public, and everyone is invited to attend. We will also introduce the 2002 Outdoor Academy class to the public. We will provide more information about the location and time of this year's event which will be held in June.
